SortMyHouse.ie is an Irish property services marketplace that connects property buyers with vetted service professionals across Ireland. References to "we", "us", or "our" in this policy refer to SortMyHouse.ie.
We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website. For data protection queries, contact us at hello@sortmyhouse.ie.
When you request quotes, we collect your name, email address, phone number, county, and details of the services you need.
When you apply as a supplier, we collect your business name, contact name, email address, phone number, website, service category, counties covered, business description, and pricing information.
When you create an account (supplier login), we collect your email address and a hashed password. We never store plaintext passwords.
Usage data: we use Simple Analytics, a privacy-first analytics tool that collects no cookies and no personal data. It records only anonymised page view statistics. See Simple Analytics' privacy policy.
Quote requests: we process your data to perform the service you requested — matching you with relevant professionals. Legal basis: contract performance (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Supplier applications: we process your data to assess and manage your application and, if approved, to operate your listing. Legal basis: contract performance and legitimate interest.
Email notifications: we send transactional emails (quote confirmation, lead notifications, account activation). Legal basis: contract performance. We do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent.
Matched service providers: when we match your quote request to a professional, we share your name, email, phone number, county, and service requirements with that professional so they can contact you with a quote. You consent to this when submitting a request.
Service providers: we use the following sub-processors to operate the platform:
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third parties for marketing purposes.
Quote requests (leads): retained for 24 months from submission, then deleted.
Supplier accounts: retained for the duration of the supplier relationship plus 12 months after account closure.
Audit logs: retained for 12 months for security purposes.
You may request earlier deletion at any time (see Your Rights below).
This website does not use tracking cookies. Simple Analytics, our analytics provider, is cookieless by design. No cookie consent banner is required because we set no cookies that require consent under Irish ePrivacy regulations.
We do set a session cookie (smh_token) strictly for supplier login authentication. This is an essential cookie required to operate the authenticated area of the site and does not require consent under GDPR.

We protect your data using industry-standard measures including encrypted HTTPS connections, hashed passwords (bcrypt), HTTP-only authentication cookies, and access controls. No data transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take all reasonable precautions.
SortMyHouse.ie is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us immediately.
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
